Overview | Main Menu |
The Grand Designs Live is the number one consumer show exhibition for design and innovation, and the Energy Saving Trust – the UK's leading organisation helping people to save energy and reduce carbon emissions – saw it as a great opportunity to get its message across.
Working together with bere:architects, we designed a pavilion to explain how people can reduce their carbon emissions at home. The pavilion took the shape of a full-scale architecture model cut in half to allow the visitors to visualise features such as cavity, roof and floor insulation – normally hidden in a real building. We then annotated each feature with a big arrow explaining what it means, how it's done and the amount of CO2 and money that could be saved in the building’s lifetime.
The model was visited by over 300,000 people and acknowledged by Grand Designs presenter Kevin McCloud as the best pavilion of the whole exhibition.
