Art History Journal
Redesigning an international forum for visual culture

previous pagenext page

On redesigning the ‘Art History Journal’ – the peer-reviewed journal of the Association of Art Historians – we were asked to come up with a resilient design that looked fresh, attractive, timeless and suitable for all different examples of art, from ancient to contemporary.

We created a flexible grid to accommodate diverse image styles and formats, established the rules for clear typography and a limited colour range, in which every essay starts with a big image opener, and the title borrows a colour from the picture used.
